My MIL lives on a farm and all the feral cats in the area have discovered that she puts out food and milk every evening, so she has quite a congregation. Last night, thirteen cats showed up for dinner. Unfortunately so did two dogs! To my MIL's horror, one of the dogs grabbed hold of a cat and shook it, killing it instantly and proceeded to eat it right before her eyes.
My husband sprang into action grabbing the .22 pistol and shot out the door and into the woods in an attempt to scare them away while the other twelve cats scattered like a drop of oil in a bucket of water. The dogs, obviously trained hunting dogs, just stood there waiting for us to pet them.
The next day we saw them contained in a fence at a house about 3/4 of a mile up the road and determined that they had just escaped and gone for a run on that one particular night.
The next morning our aunt commented on the timing of God. It just so happened that the dogs got out that night. We just happened to be there when they came to the farm. My husband disposed of the cat's body saving his 86-year-old, already traumatized mother, from having to do it.
In Acts 1, the disciples were asking Jesus about the timing of prophesied events from scripture and His response to them was “...It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;"
I thought about the timing of God and how He sees the end from the beginning and has set all of time into motion through His perfect plan. It's mind boggling to know that our Heavenly Father has our lives planned down to the exact second and that He has laid every provision at it's appointed place.
Today, I am thankful that it is by God's authority that the seasons of my life are set.
