Heavenly Hay

"The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul."

Delightful bites from the Word of God.

What I Learned From a Demon Possessed Man

Matthew 12:22

22 "Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man spoke and saw."

I love the little reminders that God will give you from His Word.  This is nothing deep or new but I believe that the Bible is God breathed, therefore even the order of words in a verse are important.  As I looked at this story I noticed that it was stated that the man was blind and dumb, in that order.  But after an encounter with Jesus and a subsequent healing, it say that he spoke and he saw.  Now there may not be any deep theological wisdom to be gained from this, but I thought it rather interesting that he spoke and he saw instead of that he saw and he spoke.  It reminded me of what faith does.

Faith is about speaking and seeing, in that order.  We speak before we see. There is a difference between asking and speaking in faith.  Many ask and if they see, then they speak.  But faith speaks and then it sees in the natural what it spoke.  There’s no question that it would see what it spoke because faith speaks what it has already seen and acquired in the spiritual because it was prayed according to the expressed will of God.

This story reminded me that I must pray and seek and know the will of God before I pray.  That is how I know that I can speak and see before I actually see it in the natural.  What God has spoken, He will do.  “All God’s promises are yes and amen!”

“Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.  Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

Prayer is not some kind of crap shoot where you throw a bunch of requests to heaven and then sit and wait to see how the answers fall.  God will ALWAYS respond affirmatively to His own Word and His own will if it is prayed in full assurance and expectation by faith.  However, we cannot pray in faith if we do not know the will of God.  I don’t have to pray and then wait and see IF God answers my request.  Instead I pray and then I wait until I see the answer fully manifested in my life, never doubting all along that it would happen.

And in the meantime, there’s peace. God is not a liar.  We can have peace knowing that we prayed the will of God with the faith that God himself provides.  We can know that no matter what we see, the answer, exactly the way God said it would come, will come.  If God said it, it’s a done deal.  I don’t have to wonder what His answer will be. I just have to wait for Him to bring His answer into my world.

What a wonderful privilege we have as believers to be used to bring the will of God to fruition on the earth!  In it, all our needs are met and He is glorified through the answers to our prayers!

Today I will speak what I see in God’s Word, what I know is His will, in full assurance that God is true and able to bring it to pass in my life and for those whom I pray for.
