What I thought sad was that so many go to church to celebrate an event that they have never really experienced. Many sit in church with the head knowledge of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ but they are missing the whole point of it-the power of it! Unless that same resurrection power lives in you, it's of little value which is why many resort to bunnies, eggs, candy, fancy clothes and surprise baskets.
Celebrating Resurrection Sunday without being born again is like admiring candy without ever tasting it. It's like receiving a present without ever opening it. It's like saying that you love someone without ever meeting them in person. It makes no sense! It's celebrating for the sake of celebrating which is, at best, as hollow as a chocolate Easter bunny.
As I enter God's house today, I can truly celebrate! I have been saved from sin by the power of Christ! I have been forgiven, declared righteous in God's sight. My sin has been been washed and cleansed. I am clean! I have been adopted into God's family and all the heritage and inheritance of Christ is now mine as well. I have a hope, a future, and a present that is blessed! I have a residing power within that helps me live holy, that gives me wisdom, comfort, strength and abiding joy!
That is something to celebrate!
